Lunch & Learn: Step into the Past @ Haan Museum of Indiana Art

An opportunity for historical and cultural discovery awaits guests as they will be invited to “Step Into the Painting”.  Learn about the historical significance of the activities depicted in the paintings and their critical role through time.  Studying historic paintings allows individuals to understand different aspects of Hoosier culture.

Enjoy a box lunch from Great Harvest Bread Company while learning about daily living in the 1800’s and early 1900’s through paintings, and seeing the activities from a child’s perspective.  Enjoy a hands-on activity of wheat weaving.  Afterwards, guests may go to the second floor to view the “Step Into the Painting” Exhibition.

“Step Into the Past” and hands-on activity will be presented by Lola Smith.

Fee:  $15 Admission (includes lunch).  Reservations are required, as seating is limited.

Celebrate Indiana! Outdoor Festival

This festival promises fun for the entire family. The event will include multiple performances on the stage featuring Indiana composers and authors, artist demonstrations, a special new sculpture unveiling, lawn games, balloon animals, scavenger hunt, hands-on arts and nature activities, and food.

Food available for purchase at the festival includes Arni’s pizza by the slice, EMT Food Truck, and Mary Lou Donuts.

Admission to the festival is $10 for adults, $5 for youth (ages 5 to 17), and $25 for a family. Children ages 4 and under are free.

Mosey Down Main Street

Mosey Down Main Street

Mosey Down Main Street is a series of street celebrations brought to you by the local artistic community.  Volunteers, downtown business owners, artists and musicians come together once a month from May through September to offer a free family friendly event that takes place right down the center of Main Street

With three stages of music, outdoor food, beer, and wine sales as well as street performers, sidewalk chalk and hand made Hula hoops, Drum circles and DJ’s, belly dancers, and balloon animals.

Civic Theatre: Sylvia @ Monon Depot Theatre

Sylvia, a dog Greg brings home from the park, offers him an escape from the frustrations of his job and middle age. But to his wife Kate, Sylvia becomes a rival for Greg’s affection. And Sylvia thinks Kate just doesn’t understand the relationship between man and dog. After a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg and Kate learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives.

2nd Annual Doggie Dip @ Prophetstown State Park

Join us for our 2nd Doggie Dip fundraiser happening on Saturday September 15th at Prophetstown State Park Water Park!

The Doggie Dip will be happening from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and the monies raised will help the local pet food pantries.

There will be vendors, as well as a photographer on hand to take pics of your pup(s) enjoying the pool

*The cost is a $5 donation per dog who attends.

* Dog owners MUST provide written (vet certificate or city registration receipt) proof of rabies vaccination for their dog/s. A rabies tag on collar is NOT sufficient.
* Only children 12 years and over will be allowed into the event with dogs**.
* There is a LIMIT of two (2) dogs per person.
* Dogs must be at least four months old.
* Owners MUST pick up after their dogs.
* Female dogs in their heat cycle will NOT be allowed .
* Aggressive dogs will be asked to leave.
* For health and safety reasons, it is recommended that people stay out of the pool.

*Note: Participants will need to pay the State Park entrance fee or use their State Park pass. We encourage attendees to car pool or make a day out of visiting Prophetstown State Park. Lots of trails to hike with your dog, and enjoy the weather & scenery.

**Because of the unpredictability of interactions between dogs and children, a separate fenced enclosure will be available for families with children under 12 Please note that children MUST be accompanied by an adult in this viewing area.
