Authenticity.

It’s a word that we take very seriously at The All New Q 106-7. It’s something that we have been thinking and talking about behind the scenes since we signed the station on. There are a couple things that many people won’t notice, nor will they EVER care, but they are part of what makes our new radio station authentic.

Our Purdue March Madness Promo

What is authentic about that? Well, let us tell you. Back in the mid-90s, when I worked at the rock radio station here in town, I used to play a “rocked up” version of “Hail Purdue” on air. I’d play it every Saturday Game Day.

I loved it.

I thought is was cool that someone took the time to make that version. Well, that someone was Michael Kelsey. To me, Michael Kelsey is a Lafayette legend. He’s played music around here for years and I would hope that most of you know his name. But I digress. Mike had a small recording studio behind the radio station. I would always walk past it as I went to Hops Shawnee Tavern for a Double Cheeseburger….with extra grease….or Friday Morning Biscuits and Gravy.

As the NCAA tournament began, I sent Mike a message and asked him about the Purdue Fight song. I didn’t think there was a chance that he would have it, but I needed to ask. About 40 minutes later, his version of “Hail Purdue” was on my computer and I started creating the on-air promo to cheer on the Boilermakers in their quest for the championship.

It may not mean much to you, but I want you to realize the lengths that we will go to make true to our promise to be “local” and to be “Lafayette’s Music”

Thanks for making The All New Q106-7 a part of your day. We look forward to serving you.
